I've liked this dude for a long time, and apparently over the last few years he's been working on a project to fight back against all the data-mining and shit that happens through the internet. Kind of an interesting video, and a cool idea that I hope comes to fruition!

Very interesting video. I work in a lot of that space and let me tell you, there is sooooooo much that the average person has no clue about. His video was good, but man it was only the tip of the iceberg. I hope there is a very significant shift in not only user behavior and awareness but in the legislation and regulatory measures on business and government. Honest people making honest money and not at the expense of someone else's ignorance.

@nukesmurphy I don't see it happening. Everyone has gotten too comfortable with everything being just so easy and right there. This would be nice, but I think there's no going back at this point. At least until something huge and terrible happens.

So what is it exactly that they're working on?  An app you'd run?

@sam Correct. There's a short video that explains exactly what it is here on the kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/4privacyapp/4privacy-app

Actually pretty smart stuff. Not exactly what I was initially thinking it was, but still pretty neat and definitely useful in this day and age.

Speaking of privacy.  What do you guys think about the Signal app?  Thinking about switching to that, just to check it out.

@sam it’s a pretty good app. There’s still some metadata they could use but for the content sent it’s safe.

Have you guys heard of the e project?  It's basically open source Android software for smartphones that has been completely de-googled.   You can buy phones that's loaded with it, or install it in yours.  Really thinking about going this route

@sam I haven’t. It looks interesting though! A custom Android build sans the Google environment! Nice!
